DAY 1 – AIRPORT/ ANURADHAPURA

Upon arrival, you will be met and greeted by your chauffeur/guide from Barefoot Lanka Holidays. You will then be transferred to your chosen accommodation in Anuradhapura. Rest and recover after your flight, preparing for the amazing journey ahead.

DAY 2 – ANURADHAPURA/POLONNARUWA

After breakfast explore the UNESCO World Heritage listed sacred city of Anuradhapura. Visit the ruins of the first capital of Sri Lanka, founded in the 4th century BC. After the city tour you will be transferred to Polonnaruwa. Evening, rest and relax in the hotel.

DAY 3 – POLONNARUWA

After breakfast explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed ancient city of Polonnaruwa. This splendid mediaeval city boasts some of the most magnificent ruins on earth. Evening, witness the glorious sunset over the Parakrama Samudraya (the largest ancient man-made rainwater reservoir of Sri Lanka).

DAY 4 – POLONNARUWA/ SIGIRIYA

After breakfast, transfer to Sigiriya. Enjoy a village excursion in a bullock cart and indulge in a delicious home-cooked traditional lunch. In the afternoon, climb the world heritage listed Lion’s Rock fortress of Sigiriya. Built by the ancient King Kashyapa, the palace at the top of the rock is a feat of impressive ancient engineering and 5th-century urban planning. The jaw-dropping panoramic views from the top make it all worth the climb.

DAY 5 – SIGIRIYA/KANDY

After breakfast, transfer to Kandy. En route, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple and stop at a spice garden in Matale for a demonstration of Sri Lankan spices, a cooking lesson and a delicious traditional lunch. You will then proceed to Kandy. In the evening, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha and witness the Kandyan Cultural Show performed by traditional dancers dressed in colourful garments.

DAY 6 – KANDY/PINNAWELA/NEGOMBO

After breakfast, transfer to Negombo. En route, visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage.
These orphaned elephants are taken in for a river bath twice daily by their human foster fathers. Interact with these gentle giants during their regulated bathing sessions and bottle feed the little jumbos. Proceed to Negombo. In the evening, sip on a cocktail, soak up the sun and recall all the beautiful memories of your holiday in Sri Lanka.

DAY 7 – NEGOMBO/AIRPORT

Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport – End of Tour.
