Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya, meaning “City on the Plain (Tableland)” or “City of Light”, is a charming town located in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. Situated at an elevation of 1,868 metres (6,128 feet) above sea level, it enjoys a cool climate and breathtaking hill-country scenery. Renowned as one of the most important tea-producing regions in Sri Lanka, Nuwara Eliya is surrounded by vast tea plantations that contribute significantly to the country’s world-famous Ceylon Tea industry. The town is majestically overlooked by Pidurutalagala, the highest mountain in Sri Lanka, adding to its scenic and geographical importance.
